About Us
Wonderful Hikes is a site by hikers, for hikers. The hiking community is an amazing part of our society, full of people who appreciate this earth we are all part of. It’s a great place to explore, make friends, and share adventures. Our goal is to become the ultimate hiking resource, giving back to the community, welcoming and educating new hikers, and growing the community as much as possible. Hiking has given us so much, and we want to give back.
In doing so, we strive to be a go-to source to share hiking knowledge for beginners, as well as gear reviews, hiking trip itineraries, and more. We are just in the beginning stages of this big adventure, so please tell others about us!
Founder and Editor
Adam Thompson
Born and raised in West Virginia, Adam grew up in the Appalachian Mountains with a deep appreciation for nature. Shortly after college, he moved to Maryland, where hiking became a favorite outlet to hectic city life.
Today, Adam works full time while also giving his extra time and attention to Wonderful Hikes, where he hopes to help the hiking community and grow along with it.

The internet is full of information about hiking, from blog websites, to forums, trail apps and more. However, many people are interested in hiking but do not know where to start. Our goal is to educate new hikers and those unfamiliar with the wilderness, to grow the hiking community even more, and to give honest gear reviews to assist hikers along the way.
We use affiliate links to support our efforts in bringing the best hiking content to you. All gear is purchased ourselves, and reviews are given to you without bias. We are not paid to do gear reviews, but links to outside websites contain cookies that enable us to receive a commission from any gear that our visitors may buy.
Developing the ultimate hiking resource will take lots of time and energy. Our goal is to grow and expand. However, since we are currently in the beginning stages, all assistance would have to be on a volunteer basis. If you are interested in assisting us, please email us at [email protected].
