Maryland Heights Trail
Harper’s Ferry, WV
A steep but rewarding hike that starts in the quaint historic Civil War town of Harper’s Ferry. Start at Harper’s Ferry train station and follow the foot path across the railway bridge. Follow the signs along the river walk right, across the roadway, and up a steep incline to eventually reach the summit. Be rewarded with stunning views of Harper’s Ferry and the merging Potomac and Shenandoah rivers.
Getting There:
Set your GPS to Harper’s Ferry National Park Visitor’s Center. Be prepared to pay for parking for the day (around $20.00).

Cross the railway bridge from the town of Harper’s Ferry
Go down the steps and onto the path along the river.
Follow the river path until you see signs to go right, and cross the road onto the Maryland Heights Trail.
Continue up the dirt road. This section of the hike gets very steep at times.
The amazing town and river views are worth the effort.
